Has anyone here heard the Richard Buckner/ Jon Langford album that was released this year? I wanted to order it online, but am a little hesitant since its only 9 tracks and will end up costing about 20 bucks after shipping.

Also, I was wondering where ya'll were from. A friend and I were just wondering if most alt country/no depression fans were primarily from specific regions in the US. I have a hunch that most of you hail from Texas and the Midwest but I could be wrong... I'm originally from good ole Bakersfield, but have lived on the CA central coast for the past few years.

I was born and raised in Chicago, home of corrupt politics, Kelly Hogan, Sally Timms, Bloodshot Records and strong smells. Nice to meet you!

I'm "from" East Tennessee, in that i lived the first 22 years of my life there. In the past decade though, I've lived in Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, and now Chapel Hill, NC.

Awesome, I'm also in SLO. I was at SB for the past four years, but just moved to SLO about 2 months ago. Are there a lot of alt country fans around here?

Not a whole ton but we do allright sometimes.

There are a couple of good bands locally that brush up to the altcountry sound like Joose and Virgil Cane and my little band Pennyjar.

If you are over 21 the Frog and Peach is a good place to see bands and quite often the bar staff will throw some Wilco, Old 97's, Uncle Tupelo or Whiskeytown on the stereo.

The Mother Hips just played Downtown Brewing Company saturday night as well.

Ah yes, I've been into Frog and Peach a few times for a beer, but havent yet been in there when there was a band... My girlfriend saw Grey Delisle and Murray there awhile back.
Is your band playing around here anytime soon?

We actually opened for Grey at that show. It was a part of a series of shows that I used to put on called "Mondays at the Peach" I've been in talks with Greys people about getting her up here again with Murry opening.

We are playing Downtown Brew with Joose (who I mentioned earlier) on Sat Nov 12th. Its a Red Cross benifet with 4 bands playing. Should be good.
